Continent Diversions Support Groups

The purpose of the Continent Diversions support groups is to provide education, understanding, mutual aid and psychological support to people with alternative diversionary surgery. This includes (but is not limited to) people who have had the ileoanal (pelvic) pouch, the Kock pouch, and the Indiana or other continent urinary diversion procedures.

Goals of the Continent Diversions Groups

  • Offer support to any individual who has or is contemplating a continent diversion.
  • Maintain a library of news articles, books, publications, etc. to increase awareness of all continent diversions available and any updates in the field.
  • Participate in the Visitor Training Program for continent diversion patients.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with the medical community.
  • Meet regularly to address mutual aid, medical management, issues affecting the individual with a continent diversion, and networking strategies to reach both those contemplating the surgery and the medical professionals who often perform these surgeries.
